Karina Miotto

Karina is an environmental journalist from Brazil, lives in Belém, in the state of Pará (that is in the Amazon). She works for national and international NGOs focused on the Amazon Rainforest and its people. Karina is the editor of the O Eco Amazonia website, that covers news about the Amazon Rainforest in its nine different countries. One day, she woke up decided to work only for ideal. So she decided to change her career to environmental journalism, left São Paulo and went to the Amazon – she is in love with the rainforest. Karina has also lived and studied in Spain, Italy and the United States.

This is Baby Jim Aditya,a 49 years old psychologist and sexologist from Jakarta, Indonesia (South East Asia)
I impressed about you and the TEDx Woman.

I am working in the HIV and AIDS programs since early 80′s, starting with the commercial sex workers and their male clients, truck drivers along the North Coastal of Java Island, housewives who got HIV infection from their husbands (and also working for their babies), Injecting Drug Users and their spouses, and then with the people in prisons all over Indonesia.

I think a lot about TEDx and am thinking is there anything that you could involve me in your activism to make a difference in our community.

Thank you very much for inspiring the world with your activism…. Keep up the good work!

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxWomen, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxWomen event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
